LSU apartments on Brightside Drive and the bus ride to campus
If you are hunting for LSU apartments on Brightside Drive, you are looking at one of the streets students in Baton Rouge bring up by name when they post about housing. Brightside Drive sits south of the LSU campus, and in the student posts in local housing groups between Oct 12 and 16, 2026, "Brightside Dr" came up in 4 of the 31 posts analyzed. This guide sticks to what we can actually show you: the listings on our Baton Rouge off-campus listings page that name Brightside in their title or address, a few other current listings as clearly labelled comparisons, and what students themselves were posting this week.

One thing up front, because the title of this post mentions the bus ride: we do not have ride times, route maps or stop locations for Brightside Drive, so we are not going to guess at them. What our listings do carry is a Distance by Car field filled in by each lister, and we quote that field exactly as it appears. If the bus matters to you, the tips section below explains how to check it yourself before you sign.
Begin your search at Off-Campus Universe, where you can browse current listings near Baton Rouge.
Right now you can check out real listings near Baton Rouge, including Apartment at Blox @ Brightside Dr at $900/month, Lease takeover at Brightside at $505/month, Sublease at Arc 225 at $755/month, Redpoint Baton Rouge at $720/month, and 7051 Perkins Place Court Apt B at $1,150/month. The first two are the ones whose own address is on Brightside Drive; the other three are comparisons elsewhere in Baton Rouge, included so you can see what a furnished one-bedroom, a four-bedroom and a two-bedroom townhouse look like on our site at the moment.
What our current Baton Rouge listings actually show
Apartment at Blox @ Brightside Dr is the clearest Brightside match we have, and it is marked available now. Its listing gives 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, unfurnished, with a Distance by Car of under 5 minutes. The Type of Lease field says Sub Lease, and the Timing of Lease field reads 8/1/2026. Because it is a sublease, the person posting it is passing on a lease they already hold, so the end date and the terms come from the original lease, not from a fresh one. Ask the lister for both before you commit.
Lease takeover at Brightside is the second listing whose address is on Brightside Drive. It is not one of our available-now listings, so treat it as a reference point rather than an open unit, and message the lister to ask whether it is still on offer. Its listing gives 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, furnished, with a Distance by Car of under 5 minutes, a Type of Lease of Year Lease (12 Months), and a Timing of Lease that reads "Aug 19 - July 19 '27".
The three comparisons are not on Brightside Drive, and we are not suggesting they are. Sublease at Arc 225 is a furnished 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with a Distance by Car of under 5 minutes; its Type of Lease field says Year Lease (12 Months) and its Timing of Lease reads "August 2026 -May2027", so it is worth asking the lister which of those describes the arrangement. Redpoint Baton Rouge is listed as a furnished apartment with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, a Distance by Car of under 5 minutes, a Year Lease (12 Months) and a Timing of Lease of 9/18/2026. 7051 Perkins Place Court Apt B is an unfurnished townhouse with 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms, a Distance by Car of more than 10 minutes, and a Biannual lease (6 months) starting 10/1/2026.
A quick note on reading prices across these: a listing price on our site is whatever the lister entered. For a multi-bedroom listing like Redpoint Baton Rouge, the listing alone does not tell you whether the figure is for one bedroom or the whole unit, so ask before you compare it with a one-bedroom price.
LSU apartments on Brightside Drive: what students posted this week
If LSU apartments on Brightside Drive are on your shortlist, the student posts are useful context, as long as you read them for what they are. Across the 31 student posts in local housing groups that were analyzed for Oct 12-16, 2026, the median rent people quoted was $800 per person, drawn from 29 dollar figures in those posts. That is a figure students typed into their own posts, not Off-Campus Universe listing data and not a market rate, and it covers the whole group rather than Brightside Drive specifically.
The same posts show what students were asking about more than usual. Private room or private bath came up in 39% of the posts, 12 points above the all-school baseline. Term-specific requests (spring, fall, a single semester) appeared in 23%, 7 points above baseline, and pets appeared in 16%, 6 points above. The floor plans students named most often were 3 bedroom (9 posts), townhouse (5), 4 bedroom (5), 2b2b (4) and 3b3b (4). Tiger Trails or the LSU bus route was named in 6 posts, Brightside Dr in 4 and Tiger Stadium in 2.
Put together, that tells you the kind of conversation you are walking into: plenty of students looking for a room of their own, a fair number trying to fill or leave a lease for one semester, and a recurring interest in how people get to campus without driving. It does not tell you what any particular building on Brightside Drive charges, and we are not going to put a number on that.
Tips before you sign anywhere on Brightside Drive
Check the bus yourself: open LSU's current Tiger Trails route information, find the stop closest to the exact address, and ride the route once at the time you would head to class before you sign.
Ask the lister whether the price is for one bedroom or the whole unit, what utilities are included, and whether there are fees on top of rent.
For a sublease or lease takeover, ask to see the original lease, confirm the end date in writing, and ask the property office whether the landlord has to approve the transfer.
If you have a pet or need a private bathroom, ask about both in your first message; students raised each of these more than usual this week, so expect competition for units that allow them.
