Off-Campus Housing Guide: University of Nevada Las Vegas

Off-Campus Housing Guide

The University of Nevada Las Vegas is a fast-growing public research university with over 30,000 students located just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. UNLV has strong programs in hospitality management, business, and the performing arts — fields that align well with the city's economy. It's one of the most diverse universities in the country, and Las Vegas gives students access to a job market unlike any other college town.

Off-campus housing near UNLV is more affordable than many comparable university markets, and the options range widely — from budget apartments in older complexes to newer high-rises near the Strip. This Off-Campus Housing Guide covers the top neighborhoods, what life looks like off campus, and the local spots students rely on.

Off-Campus Housing Guide: Best Neighborhoods Near UNLV

Paradise is the unincorporated community directly surrounding UNLV's campus and is the most popular area for student housing. Maryland Pkwy is the main corridor, running north-south along the east side of campus with apartments, shops, and restaurants. This is where most students look first.

Huntridge and the area around Charleston Blvd to the north is a popular alternative. It's a short drive or bus ride from campus and has a mix of older bungalows, apartments, and a growing number of renovated properties. More affordable than areas closer to the Strip.

Henderson is a suburb southeast of campus and attracts students who want more space and quieter surroundings. It's a longer commute but offers some of the most affordable and well-maintained housing options in the metro area.

Off-Campus Student Life at UNLV

Living near UNLV means you're steps from one of the most unique cities in the world. Students have access to internship and part-time job opportunities in hospitality, entertainment, and tech. The campus itself has been undergoing major development, with new facilities and a growing student life scene.

Most students get around by car — Las Vegas is not a walkable city outside of the Strip area. The RTC bus network covers most major corridors, but having a car makes life significantly easier. Maryland Pkwy has everything students need within a short distance of campus.
