The Republic UNR apartments: the rents on our own listings
Updated: 1 day ago

If you have been searching for The Republic UNR apartments, this guide sticks to what we can actually show you: the rents printed on the live listings that carry The Republic in their titles, set next to other current listings for students in Reno. You can see every current option on our Reno off-campus listings page. We are not going to describe the building's amenities, floor plans or house rules, because we do not hold that information, and a guess is not much use when you are about to sign a lease.
What we do hold is small but concrete. Two live listings on our site name The Republic. Both are one-bedroom, one-bathroom furnished units, both are listed as subleases, and both show a Distance by Car of under five minutes. Over the last 30 days the building came up once in the Google Ads search terms from our Reno campaign, so this is a niche search, but it is a real one, and the two listings below are the honest answer to it.
Begin your search at Off-Campus Universe, where you can browse current listings near Reno.
Here are the current listings this post draws on: The Republic 2409 at $850/month, The Republic Sublease at $759/month, Canyon Flats 1bed 1bath FURNISHED at $674/month, 326 W 11th St 3BR House at $850/month, and Tiny furnished garage studio at $1,200/month.
What Our Reno Listings Show, Side by Side
Start with the two Republic listings. The Republic 2409 is a furnished one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment at $850/month, listed as a sublease, with a lease timing of August 15 to July 23. The Republic Sublease is also a furnished one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment, at $759/month, listed as a sublease with a timing of ASAP. That is a $91 gap between two listings that share a building name, the same bed and bath count and the same furnished status. It is a good reminder that a building does not have one price. Each unit is its own offer, and a sublease is often priced by the person handing the lease on rather than by the building.
The other three listings give you something to measure against. Canyon Flats 1bed 1bath FURNISHED is another furnished one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit, at $674/month on a year lease (12 months), and its Distance by Car also reads under five minutes. The 326 W 11th St 3BR House is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house, unfurnished, listed at $850/month on a year lease, again with a Distance by Car of under five minutes. The Tiny furnished garage studio sits at the other end of the range: $1,200/month, furnished, with a three-month minimum and a Distance by Car of more than ten minutes.
A few things stand out from putting them in one place. First, the two cheapest furnished one-bedrooms in this set are a Republic sublease and the Canyon Flats listing, so if a furnished one-bedroom is what you want, you have more than one building to compare. Second, the house listing is not marked as rent by room, and its price matches The Republic 2409 exactly, so ask the lister whether $850 covers the whole house or one room before you treat the two as equivalent. Third, the garage studio is the only listing here that states a short minimum, three months, which may suit you if you only need a place for part of the academic year, but it is also the highest price in the set.
Our listings use a Distance by Car field rather than walk times. It comes in bands such as under five minutes, five to ten minutes, and more than ten minutes. Treat it as a rough guide. It does not tell you about parking, traffic, bus routes or the walk itself, so if you plan to walk or bike to class, map the route yourself at the time of day you would be making the trip.
The Republic UNR Apartments: How to Read the Two Listings
If The Republic UNR apartments are on your shortlist, the two listings above are the most useful starting point you have, because they are real offers with real numbers attached. Both are subleases. A sublease generally means you are taking over part or all of someone else's lease, so the end date, the rent and many of the rules were set before you arrived. Ask each lister for a copy of the original lease, ask whether the property manager has to approve the sublease, and ask what happens to the security deposit when the lease changes hands.
Dates matter as much as price. The Republic 2409 lists a timing of August 15 to July 23, so check that range against the dates you actually need. The Republic Sublease reads ASAP, which tells you when it starts but not when it ends, so ask the lister what end date the lease carries and whether a renewal would be possible. Neither listing tells us about utilities, parking, internet or shared spaces, and we will not fill those gaps for you here. Put those questions to the lister in writing and keep the answers.
It is also worth being clear about how thin the data is. The two Republic rents, $759 and $850, are the only rents we hold for this building, and we have no student-quoted rents for it to compare them with. We cannot tell you what other tenants pay, how often units come up, or whether these two prices are high or low for the building as a whole. Two listings is a small sample, so treat them as two data points rather than a price list, and use the other Reno listings on our site as the wider comparison.
One practical way to do that comparison is to line up every furnished one-bedroom you are considering with four columns: monthly price, lease type, lease dates and Distance by Car. Then add a fifth column for anything the lister tells you is included, such as utilities or parking. Comparing like with like that way is far more reliable than comparing building names, and it keeps you focused on the costs you will actually pay each month.
Tips for Comparing Reno Listings Before You Sign
Confirm whether a price is per room or for the whole unit, especially on multi-bedroom houses, and get the answer in writing before you compare it with a one-bedroom.
For any sublease or lease takeover, ask to see the original lease, ask whether the landlord or property manager must approve the transfer, and ask who holds the security deposit.
Ask what the monthly price includes. Utilities, internet, parking and furniture can change your real monthly cost, and a listing price on its own does not tell you which of those are covered.
Check the move-in and move-out dates against your academic calendar so you are not paying for two places at once or left without housing for a few weeks between leases.
