If you're looking at UNR apartments for rent in Reno, the useful questions are simple: what does it cost, how long is the lease, and how far is it from campus by car. This post answers those for the current listings on our site that carry a property type of Apartment, using only what each listing states: posted rent, bedrooms and baths, furnishing, lease type, lease timing and Distance by Car. You can browse every current option on our Reno off-campus listings page.

UNR apartments for rent in Reno: current listings and prices

Right now three listings meet that apartment rule. We've added one more as a comparison only, because its title describes an apartment but its listing doesn't give a property type. Each one is labelled below so you know which is which.

Begin your search at Off-Campus Universe, where you can browse current listings near Reno.

The three current apartment listings near UNR are The Dean Reno D1 Penthouse – Private Bed at $1,056/month, The Republic Sublease at $759/month, and 4 Bdrm/4 Bath Townhouse 5 min from UNR! at $715/month. For comparison only, there's also Furnished Apt. Monthly Lease at $1,375/month.

Reno Apartment Listings at a Glance

The Dean Reno D1 Penthouse – Private Bed is listed at $1,056/month for one bedroom and one bath, furnished, with a Distance by Car of under 5 minutes from campus. It's on a year lease (12 months) with a lease timing of 8/15/2026. That date has already passed, so ask what move-in date is open now and whether your first month would be prorated. The title says private bed, so ask the property exactly which spaces are yours alone and which are shared, and how many people live in the unit.

The Republic Sublease is listed at $759/month for one bedroom and one bath, furnished, also under 5 minutes by car. It's a sublease, and the lease timing reads ASAP. That makes it the quickest move-in of the group, but a sublease comes with its own questions: when the original lease ends, whether the property has approved the sublet in writing, and who you'd pay rent to each month. Get those answers before you hand over any money.

4 Bdrm/4 Bath Townhouse 5 min from UNR! is listed at $715/month. The listing shows four bedrooms and four baths, furnished, with a Distance by Car of 5 - 10 minutes, a lease timing of 10/1/2026, and a lease type of flexible. It's marked as rent by room with a room type of Private Room, so the posted price is for one room, not the whole unit. Its title calls it a townhouse while its property type is Apartment, so ask the landlord to describe the layout. Ask too what flexible means in practice: the shortest term you can sign and what notice you'd need to give to leave.

Furnished Apt. Monthly Lease is the comparison listing. It's posted at $1,375/month with zero bedrooms and one bath, furnished, with a Distance by Car of 5 - 10 minutes. The lease timing reads starting now, and the lease type is 1 or more months. It doesn't list a property type, which is why it isn't counted with the three apartments above, but its month-to-month style terms make it a useful benchmark if you only need a short stay.

All four of these listings are furnished, which is worth noting because it changes your budget. You won't need to buy much to move in, but you also can't assume what's included, since our listings don't say what the furniture is. Ask every landlord for a list.

UNR apartments for rent in Reno: Comparing Price, Lease and Distance

UNR apartments for rent in Reno on our site right now range from $715/month for a single room in a shared unit to $1,056/month for a private bed on a year lease, with the comparison listing at $1,375/month on a month-to-month style term. Those numbers aren't directly comparable, so line them up by what you're paying for. Is the rent for a room or for a whole unit? Is it a twelve-month commitment, a sublease with an end date someone else set, or a flexible term? Is it under 5 minutes by car from campus or 5 - 10 minutes? Once you know those three things, the price makes a lot more sense.

Then look at the full cost, not just the monthly rent. Ask each landlord which utilities are included, whether internet is part of the price, and whether there are monthly fees on top of rent for things like trash, parking or amenities. Ask about the security deposit and any application or administrative fees. For the sublease and the flexible listing in particular, ask what you'd owe if you leave early, and whether the deposit goes to the landlord or to the person you're taking over from.

Finally, think about who you'll be living with. Two of these listings involve shared space, one through a private bed and one through a room in a four-bedroom unit. Ask how roommates are matched or chosen, how cleaning and shared costs are split, and what happens if a roommate moves out partway through the lease. If you're signing with friends instead, ask whether the lease would be joint, where each tenant can be held responsible for the full rent, or individual, where you're only on the hook for your own share.

Tips for Renting an Apartment Near UNR

  • Check whether the price is per room. One listing here is marked rent by room, so its posted rent is for a single room; confirm the same point in writing for any listing you're splitting.

  • Get sublease approval in writing. If you take over a lease like The Republic Sublease, ask the property to confirm the sublet and the end date before you pay.

  • Use Distance by Car to plan your commute. Two listings are under 5 minutes by car and two are 5 - 10 minutes, so ask whether parking comes with the unit and budget for parking on campus too.

  • Ask what the furniture is. All four listings are furnished, and our listings don't say what that includes, so request an item list before you sign.
