5 min read

Looking for a UNR private room with parking in Reno? You are far from the only one. Across 49 new student posts in local Facebook housing groups from 17 to 19 October 2026, parking came up in 41% of posts, 13 points above its usual level in those groups, and private rooms or private bathrooms came up in 37%, 10 points above usual. This guide pulls together what those student posts actually said, the private-room listings currently live on our Reno off-campus listings page, and what to ask about parking, since none of our current listing titles mentions it.

UNR private room with parking: what students are posting

One thing to be clear about from the start: every student figure in this post is an amount that students typed into their own posts in those groups. These figures are not Off-Campus Universe listing prices and they are not a market rate, so we keep them separate from the listing prices further down and never add or average the two together. If you want a hard number for a specific place, the listing page is the source, and the lister is the person to confirm it with.

Here are the private-room listings on our Reno page right now: Townhouse at $762.50/month, The Dean Reno D1 Penthouse – Private Bed at $1,056/month, and 4 Bdrm/4 Bath Townhouse 5 min from UNR! at $715/month. For comparison, if a small place of your own suits you better than a room, Furnished Apt. Monthly Lease at $1,375/month lists 0 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. All four are marked as furnished.

Two of these listings are set up as rent-by-room listings. Townhouse lists 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, with Rent by Room marked TRUE, at $762.50/month on a 12-month lease starting 8/1/2026, and its Distance by Car is more than 10 minutes. 4 Bdrm/4 Bath Townhouse 5 min from UNR! lists 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, with Rent by Room marked TRUE and a room type of Private Room, at $715/month. Its lease type is listed as flexible, its timing as 10/1/2026, and its Distance by Car field reads 5 - 10 minutes. The title mentions 5 minutes, but we go by the Distance by Car field, which is the figure we hold for every listing.

The Dean Reno D1 Penthouse – Private Bed describes a private bed in its title. It lists 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, is an apartment priced at $1,056/month on a 12-month lease starting 8/15/2026, and is listed as under 5 minutes by car from campus. Its Rent by Room field reads FALSE, so ask the lister whether the price covers a private bedroom within a larger unit and what is shared. The comparison listing, Furnished Apt. Monthly Lease, is priced at $1,375/month, gives its timing as starting now, lists its lease type as 1 or more months, and has a Distance by Car of 5 - 10 minutes.

On floor plans, the student posts from 17 to 19 October named 4x4 setups in 4 posts, 2b2b, 5x5, studio and townhouse layouts in 3 posts each, 1b1b in 2 posts and 3b3b in 1 post. Reno was the place name students used most, in 15 posts, and Sparks came up in 3. Those counts describe what students wrote, not which places are available, so use them as a sense of what people are looking for and offering rather than as a guide to any one building.

UNR Private Room with Parking: What the Student Posts Say

If you are weighing a UNR private room with parking, here is everything the student posts give us on it. Of the 49 posts in local Facebook housing groups from 17 to 19 October 2026, 11 mentioned a private room with parking, and the dollar figures quoted in those 11 posts were $250, $500, $715, $816, $900, $929, $970, $1,020 and $1,200. That is the full set of figures we hold from students on this topic. The posts do not tell us what each amount covered, whether it was rent for a room, a share of a whole unit, or something else, so treat the list as a picture of what students mentioned rather than as prices you should expect. Across all 49 posts, the median rent per person that students quoted was $844, based on 47 dollar figures they typed.

On our side, none of the four listing titles above mentions parking, and the listing fields we hold do not include parking at all. That does not mean parking is unavailable; it means we cannot tell you either way. So when you contact a lister, ask directly. Is a parking spot included in the rent, or does it cost extra each month? Is the spot assigned, covered, or first come, first served? Is there a permit, a waitlist or a limit on vehicles per room? Is there anywhere for guests to park? Get the answers in writing, ideally in the lease itself, so a spot you were promised in a message does not disappear at move-in.

Roommate search also stood out in the same student posts, appearing in 43% of them, 8 points above usual. If you are taking a private room in a shared townhouse or apartment, the people you share with matter as much as the room itself, so ask who else lives there, how bills are split and how shared spaces are handled before you sign.

Tips for Renting a Private Room in Reno

  • Confirm what the price covers. Ask whether the listed price is for your bedroom alone or a share of the whole unit, and which costs such as utilities, internet or parking are added on top.

  • Ask about parking before anything else if you have a car. None of our current listing titles mentions it, so get the cost, the type of spot and any permit rules from the lister in writing.

  • Check the lease terms against your plans. The listings above range from a flexible lease to 12-month leases and a 1 or more months lease, so match the dates to your semester and ask what happens if you leave early.

  • Use the Distance by Car field to compare locations. We list each place as under 5 minutes, 5 - 10 minutes or more than 10 minutes by car from campus; we do not hold walking or bus times, so map the trip yourself before you commit.
