UNR townhouse with a garage: the setup students ask about most

Garages came up in 5 student housing posts in Reno this week, so a search for a UNR townhouse with a garage makes sense if you have a car, a bike or gear to store. This guide sticks to what we can stand behind: what students wrote in a local Reno housing group, and the fields on our own live listings. Where we do not have a fact, we say so instead of guessing. You can see every current option on our Reno off-campus listings page, and below we compare five listings, including the two whose titles come closest to this search.

UNR townhouse with a garage: the setup students ask about most

One point up front. None of our current listings is identified, in its title or address, as a townhouse with a garage. We have a listing titled Townhouse, and a separate listing whose title mentions a garage, but we will not describe either one as having something its listing does not state. We also do not hold walk times, ride times or bus routes. Each listing does carry a Distance by Car field filled in by the lister, in broad bands such as under 5 minutes, and we quote it where it helps.

The listings in this guide are Townhouse at $762.50/month, Tiny furnished garage studio at $1,200/month, Peaceful sanctuary at $875/month, The Republic Sublease at $759/month, and The Dean Reno D1 Penthouse – Private Bed at $1,056/month.

What Students Posted in Reno This Week

Between October 12 and 16, 2026, we analyzed 22 new student posts from a local Reno housing group. Across those posts, the median rent per person that students quoted was $845, taken from 15 dollar amounts, with one post carrying scam markers left out. That figure is not our listing data and not a market rate. It is simply the middle of what people were asking and offering that week.

The word garage appeared in 5 of those posts, and townhouse was named as a floor plan in 2. Compared with the baseline across the school groups we track, the Reno posts leaned toward parking (41% of posts), subleases and lease takeovers (55%) and pets (18%). Other floor plans named included 2b2b (3 posts), 2 bedroom (2) and 5 bedroom (2). We do not have rent figures for townhouses or for places with garages specifically, so we cannot tell you what that set-up typically costs.

UNR Townhouse With a Garage: What Our Listings Actually Say

If you want a UNR townhouse with a garage, here is how our current listings line up against that search. Townhouse is a furnished listing with three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms at $762.50/month, marked as rent by room, on a year lease (12 months) with a lease timing of 8/1/2026 and a Distance by Car of more than 10 minutes. The listing details we hold do not mention a garage, so ask the lister whether there is one, whether it comes with your room, and whether it costs extra.

Tiny furnished garage studio is the listing whose title mentions a garage, but it is a studio, not a townhouse. It is furnished, lists zero bedrooms and one bathroom at $1,200/month, with a lease type of 3 month minimum, a lease timing that reads June 10.2026, and a Distance by Car of more than 10 minutes. Because that start date has passed, ask the lister whether it is still open before you plan around it.

The other three are comparisons, not garage or townhouse listings. Peaceful sanctuary is an unfurnished house with three bedrooms and one bathroom at $875/month on a year lease with a lease timing of 8/1/2026 and a Distance by Car of under 5 minutes; it is not marked as rent by room, so ask whether the price covers the whole house. The Republic Sublease is a furnished one bedroom, one bathroom apartment at $759/month, listed as a sub lease with a lease timing of ASAP. The Dean Reno D1 Penthouse – Private Bed is a furnished one bedroom, one bathroom apartment at $1,056/month on a year lease with a lease timing of 8/15/2026. Both of those show a Distance by Car of under 5 minutes.

Tips for Finding Parking and Storage in Reno

  • Ask directly whether a garage, driveway or assigned parking space comes with the unit, whether it is shared, and whether it costs extra each month.

  • Get any parking or garage arrangement written into the lease, since a spoken promise is hard to enforce later.

  • Confirm whether the listed price is for one room or the whole home, and what it covers, before comparing it with any other figure.

  • Request the exact address and map the route to class yourself rather than relying on the Distance by Car band.

A few more points are worth thinking through. If you are sharing a townhouse with housemates, a single garage can become a source of friction. Agree in advance who gets to use it, whether its use is reflected in how the rent is split, and what happens if more than one person has a car. If the garage is used for storage rather than parking, ask whether the landlord allows that and whether anything needs to stay clear.

Because many of this week's Reno posts were subleases and lease takeovers, it helps to know the difference. In a sublease, the original tenant usually stays on the lease and you pay them, so a missed payment on either side can affect you both. In a lease takeover, the lease is usually transferred into your name, which normally needs the landlord's approval. Ask which arrangement is on offer and keep the answer in writing.

Pets were another theme in the posts. If you have one, ask about pet rules, deposits and monthly fees before you apply, and check that the answer covers the specific animal you have.

Before you start messaging listers, decide your limits: the most you can pay each month, whether you need parking or a garage, whether you want furniture included, and how long a lease you can sign. With those answers ready, you can compare options in Reno quickly and fairly.
