4 min read

If you want to keep the trip to class short, this guide covers UO rentals under 5 minutes from campus that are open on our Eugene off-campus listings page right now. Every listing below has a Distance by Car field that reads under 5 minutes, which is how we measure distance from campus for every listing we carry. We go through each one's price, size and lease terms exactly as the listing gives them, and we flag the questions the listing leaves open.

UO rentals under 5 minutes from campus: what's open right now

A quick note on what we do and do not hold. This week there were not enough new student posts from local housing groups for us to report what students are quoting for rent in Eugene, so this post uses only our own listing data plus practical advice. We also do not hold walking times, biking times or bus times for these listings. Under 5 minutes here always means under 5 minutes by car, as listed, and nothing more.

Here are five listings currently on our Eugene page that are listed as under 5 minutes by car from campus: Apartment Lease Takeover at $1,597/month, Ferry Street Lofts at $1,175/month, Chapter at Eugene at $1,449/month, Arena District at $850/month, and Spacious 4-BR East Campus Home at $4,600/month. They run from a listing with 0 bedrooms up to two 4-bedroom listings, and all five are marked as furnished.

Eugene Listings Under 5 Minutes by Car, One by One

Apartment Lease Takeover lists 0 bedrooms and 1 bathroom at $1,597/month. It is a sublease, and its timing reads ASAP to August, so it could suit someone who needs a place now and is fine with a term that ends in August. Ferry Street Lofts lists 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom at $1,175/month on a 12-month lease, with its start given as 8/1/2026. Chapter at Eugene lists 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms at $1,449/month on a 12-month lease starting 9/1/2026.

The two larger listings are worth reading closely. Arena District lists 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms at $850/month on a 12-month lease, with its timing given as Sept 2026-Aug 2027. Its Rent by Room field reads FALSE, but a 4-bedroom place at that price is worth a direct question: ask the lister whether $850/month is for the whole unit or for one bedroom in it. Spacious 4-BR East Campus Home is a house listing with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms at $4,600/month, starting 8/1/2026 on a 9-month lease. If you are planning to rent it with friends, ask how the rent is billed, whether everyone signs one lease or separate ones, and who is responsible if someone moves out before the 9 months are up.

Eugene sits at the southern end of Oregon's Willamette Valley, and these five listings give Eugene street addresses. Because we only hold the Distance by Car value for each listing, two places that both read under 5 minutes can still be quite different trips depending on where on campus your classes are and when you travel, so look at the address on each listing page and map it against your own schedule.

UO Rentals Under 5 Minutes From Campus: What the Label Means

When we describe UO rentals under 5 minutes from campus, we mean one thing only: listings whose Distance by Car field reads under 5 minutes. That field is the one distance figure we hold for every listing, and we do not convert it into miles or turn it into a walking or bus estimate, because we have no data to support either. It is a useful way to sort listings, since it lets you compare places on the same basis, but it is not a promise about how long your day-to-day trip will take. If you do not plan to drive, the field still helps you narrow the list, but map the route on foot, by bike or by bus yourself before you treat any of these as a short commute.

It is also worth knowing what the field does not tell you. It does not say anything about parking at the listing or on campus, about traffic at the hours you would travel, or about which part of campus it was measured to. So treat under 5 minutes as a starting filter, then ask each lister about parking, look at the address on the map, and if you can, make the trip at the time of day you would actually be heading to class.

The lease terms on these five vary as much as the prices. You have a sublease running to August, 12-month leases on three of the listings, and a 9-month lease on the house. A shorter term can be easier to fit around the academic year, while a 12-month term can mean paying for months you are away, so line each one up against your own plans before comparing prices.

Tips for Picking a Place Close to Campus in Eugene

  • Treat Distance by Car as a filter, not a commute time. Every listing above reads under 5 minutes by car from campus, but we do not hold walking, biking or bus times, so map the trip yourself.

  • Ask whether the price is for the whole unit or one bedroom, especially on larger listings. A 4-bedroom listing at $850/month and another at $4,600/month may be priced on different bases, and only the lister can confirm how.

  • Line the lease dates up with your plans. These listings include a sublease running to August, three 12-month leases and a 9-month lease, so check the start and end dates and ask what happens if you leave early.

  • Ask what furnished means and what the rent includes. All five are marked furnished, so request a list of the furniture and ask whether utilities, internet or parking are included or extra.
