WVU 1 bedroom rentals in Morgantown: what's open right now
If you are searching for WVU 1 bedroom rentals in Morgantown, the first thing to know is that a listing marked as one bed can mean two different things: a self-contained one-bedroom unit, or a single room inside a larger shared house or townhouse. This guide goes through the one-bed listings currently live on our Morgantown listings page, sets out exactly what each one states, and covers the questions that tell those two situations apart before you sign anything.

We have kept this post to what the listings themselves say. Where a listing leaves a detail out, such as whether the price covers a whole unit or one room, we point that out instead of filling the gap, because that is the detail you will want in writing from the landlord.

Here are five current listings with one bed and a Morgantown address: The View at $770/month, a furnished one-bed, one-bath listing with a twelve-month lease; College Park 1 BD/BATH Sublet at $775/month, a furnished one-bed, one-bath listing; Jones Place Townhouse at $740/month, an unfurnished one-bed, one-bath listing in a townhouse; Private Rooms Available at $575/month, an unfurnished one-bed, one-bath listing in a house with a nine-month lease; and Room in town house at $900/month, a furnished one-bed, one-bath listing in a townhouse with a ten-month lease.
What the Five Morgantown Listings Tell You
Read side by side, the five listings run from $575/month to $900/month, and every one of them lists one bed and one bath. Three are furnished (The View, College Park 1 BD/BATH Sublet and Room in town house) and two are unfurnished (Jones Place Townhouse and Private Rooms Available). None of the five is marked as rent by room.
That last point needs care. Two of the titles, Private Rooms Available and Room in town house, describe rooms rather than apartments, and their property types are listed as a house and a townhouse. So even though the bed count reads one and the rent-by-room box is not ticked, ask whether you would be renting one room in a shared home, who else lives there, and which spaces such as the kitchen and living room are shared. Jones Place Townhouse is also listed as a townhouse, so it is worth asking the same question there. The View and College Park 1 BD/BATH Sublet do not give a property type at all, so ask whether each one is a self-contained unit.
Distance is listed for every one. Four of the five give a distance by car of under 5 minutes from campus, and Room in town house gives 5 to 10 minutes. Those are the listers' own figures, so if the trip to class matters to you, check the route yourself at the times you would actually travel.
Lease timing is listed too, and it varies. The View gives a timing beginning in August 2026 on a twelve-month lease, Jones Place Townhouse gives July 2026 to July 2027 on a twelve-month lease, College Park 1 BD/BATH Sublet and Room in town house both give 8/1/2026, and Private Rooms Available gives its timing as Available Now. Several of those start dates have already passed, so ask each landlord what move-in date is actually on offer today and how the rent is handled if you join partway through.
WVU 1 Bedroom Rentals in Morgantown: Lease Lengths and Lease Types
WVU 1 bedroom rentals in Morgantown in this set come with three different lease lengths, and that matters as much as the monthly figure. The View, College Park 1 BD/BATH Sublet and Jones Place Townhouse all list a Year Lease (12 Months). Room in town house lists a 10 month lease, and Private Rooms Available lists 9 months. A twelve-month lease usually runs through the summer, so if you only need a place for the academic year, ask whether subletting is allowed for the months you are away and on what terms.
There is also a mismatch worth noticing. College Park 1 BD/BATH Sublet calls itself a sublet in its title, but its lease type field reads Year Lease (12 Months). The listing does not explain which applies, so ask whether you would be signing a new lease directly with the landlord or taking over part of someone else's existing lease. In a sublease the original tenant often stays responsible to the landlord and you pay under a separate agreement, while in an assignment or a new lease you deal with the landlord directly. Get the answer in writing either way.
Furnishing is the other split. Three of the five are listed as furnished, but none of the listings says what furniture is included. Ask for a list before you commit, check whether the bed, desk and any shared-area furniture belong to the landlord or to a current tenant, and find out whether anything leaves when that tenant does. For the two unfurnished listings, factor in the cost and effort of furnishing a room or unit yourself when you compare prices.
Finally, ask what the listed price covers. The listings give one monthly figure each and say nothing about utilities, internet, parking or other fees. Ask each landlord for a full monthly total, including any charges that are billed separately, so you are comparing like with like across all five.
Tips Before You Sign for a One-Bed in Morgantown
Confirm what you are renting. Ask whether the listing is a self-contained one-bedroom or a single room in a shared home, and how many other people live there.
Get the full monthly cost. Ask what the listed rent includes and request a written estimate of utilities and any other fees before you compare listings.
Read the whole lease. Check the lease length, the start and end dates, and the clauses on subletting, early termination and the security deposit before you sign.
See it before you pay. Tour in person or by live video, take dated photos of the condition at move-in, and never send a deposit before you have seen both the place and the paperwork.
